Week 10: Advanced Topics

The pandemic is spiking and everyone is stressed, busy, and schedules are uncertain. I know that some of you are dealing with terrible circumstances. This week, rather than give you a difficult set of analyses to perform on a new dataset, instead I’ve decided to simply point you to some resources on more advanced topics in Scientific Computing, that you can peruse at your leisure. Some of them will be relevant to you, others not. It depends on your interests. Have a look if you have the time and the opportunity. I’ve extended the due date for the final assignment. As always, if you need more time, just let me know. Please take care of yourselves during this stressful time.

Here are pointers to course materials from a previous class, “Computational Modelling in Neuroscience”, which may be of interest to some of you:

Here are some course notes from a previous version of this course SciComp 2014:

Finally, here is a new paper in the journal eLife which points to an online resource, where you will find Python notebooks, on a number of topics relevant for analysing neural data using Python. In particular the sections on spectral analysis may be useful to many. Check it out.
